Zürich makers open their doors and showcase how passion drives daily production in workshops, studios, and factories.
In Zürich, passion fuels daily production—locally, innovatively, and often with surprising ideas. On September 27, the Day of Urban Production will take place. Over 70 producers from the city of Zürich will open their workshops, studios, and small factories, providing insights into their daily work.
Anyone interested in where things are sewn, brewed, crafted, soldered, cast, or designed in Zürich is warmly invited: there is much to discover, touch, and try out.
The program is as diverse as the city itself: interactive offerings, guided tours, workshops, and behind-the-scenes insights.

Bierwerk Zürich

We are a small brewery founded in 2021 by three passionate brewers. On the Day of Urban Production, we’ll guide you through the production facilities of our new brewery at Werkstadt, where we brew our beer with lots of love and also can it sustainably — right here in the city of Zurich! Of course, you’ll also be able to taste our freshest beer. Get excited!
Deux Frères

Circular Shirt Day at NEUMÜHLE. On the Day of Urban Production, discover circular design at NEUMÜHLE.
The Mono Shirt: 100% mono organic cotton — including seams and collar. Fully biodegradable and recyclable. No mixed fibres. No waste. A statement for sustainable fashion.
Get involved: Circular Drop-Off: Bring your 100% white cotton shirt and drop it off at the collection wagon. We’ll recycle it properly and turn it into part of a new textile cycle.
Why it matters: Tons of clothing end up in the trash because they can’t be recycled. The Mono Shirt is the alternative: durable, circular and locally produced.
QWSTION

Most everyday products are not designed with their end of life in mind — they eventually become waste. QWSTION was founded in Zurich in 2008 to challenge this norm. The result is bags and everyday objects designed for circularity — made from plants, not plastic.
At the Day of Urban Production, QWSTION offers insights into its approach — at 1:00 pm with a tour by co-founder and creative director Christian Kägi.
Soda Studios

Open Studios at SODA. We are a design studio, innovation partner and lab in one. We love inspiration, community and new faces. You are warmly invited to join us for a drink or gelato. On a short personal tour, you’ll get to know our processes, our team, and our favourite products and prototypes from the analogue and digital world.
At hands-on workshops (no registration required) you can print a fabric bag, make acrylic jewellery or craft a leather pendant. We’re looking forward to your visit!
Soeder

The transparent interior architecture of the 2,000 m² Soeder soap factory gives you a direct view of the production, the in-house scent lab and the product development lab. The Soeder factory store will also be open for testing, shopping and refills.

Even before the SBCZ officially kicks off at its new location on 1 October, there will be the opportunity to make a first visit on Saturday, 27 September: As part of Open House Zurich, the new premises will be open to the public from 11am to 5pm – no prior registration is required. The Cocktail

The Tiny Factory

We tie on our aprons, mix our original recipe and fire up our granola oven. Visitors will not only be captivated by the smell but can also watch through the windows as we produce and pack our freshest and crispiest nut granola.
