Open doors, fascinating insights and encounters with the people behind the products: on 26 September 2026, visitors had the chance to experience Zurich’s urban production firsthand. Werkstadt Zürich was part of this day of discovery.

What is made right here in Zurich? Who makes it? And how much craftsmanship and expertise goes into it? Urban Production Day offered a chance to take a closer look. More than 100 businesses across the city opened their doors, welcoming thousands of visitors. They demonstrated their work, shared their knowledge and revealed what usually happens behind workshop doors.

Production Belongs in the City

At Werkstadt Zürich, urban production is part of everyday life. The site provides space for people and businesses that make, repair and rethink. Urban Production Day brought their work into focus and invited visitors to discover Zurich’s productive side.

Meeting the makers highlights what defines local production: expertise, ideas and people dedicated to creating something. It also shows why workshops and production spaces deserve a place in a vibrant city.
