On Saturday, 26 September 2026, Zurich will showcase the products, ideas and craftsmanship being created across the city every day. Werkstadt Zürich is also taking part in Urban Production Day, inviting visitors to explore the site and meet the people who bring it to life.
From chocolate, coffee and beverages to repair, design and the circular economy, Werkstadt is home to many different forms of urban production. For Urban Production Day, businesses across the site will open their doors and offer a glimpse behind the scenes.
Visitors can discover how products are made on site, meet the people behind them and get involved in a variety of activities. With everything within easy walking distance, the diversity of Werkstadt can be explored in a single afternoon.
A place where things are made
Werkstadt Zürich is located on the 42,000-square-metre site of the former SBB railway workshops in Zurich Altstetten. Once a place where trains were maintained and repaired, the site is evolving into a diverse hub for businesses, industry, culture and leisure.
Production remains an important part of Werkstadt’s identity. Urban Production Day offers a unique opportunity to step inside its workshops and production spaces and discover what is being made here today.
